heart grown fonder?
There were – and I didn’t look this up, so I’m just going by gut feeling – nineteen thousand four hundred eighty six days in a row of gray skies and rain in Portland this fall-winter-spring, and they’ve ended. They’ve ended with a heat so intense that all the orange and yellow petals fell off my tulips, every petal off of every tulip in a single day, so that the bright green still-young stalks are left sticking straight up from a festive bed of discarded flower parts. And that, along with the fact that I have a new house and a new old boyfriend, is the reason I haven’t been blogging. That and the conclusion that the “house blog” thing wasn’t very interesting. But this past weekend I talked to the friend I have known the longest of anyone on the planet, and she told me to start again. And she’s seen me through some pretty awkward times, like the time when we had a secret club, and the time when we didn’t go to junior prom together, and the time when we both got drunk at Spring Fling and acted inappropriately. So I try to do what she asks.
Now then. I will here test out a participatory post, to see if anyone is even still around.
Question for you, to chart the coming of spring in a random collection of U.S. locales:
What are you wearing today?
16 Comments:
short sleeves, denim skirt, cardigan, green shoes, umbrella.
It's 100 freakin' degrees today in Austin. A record breaker. Grass green shirt, khaki capris and sandals. Annabelle is in a cute little cotton dress that barely covers her well-marbled thighs. Keep on blogging!!
Ooooh baby baby, she's back!
I'm wearing the most hole-ridden shirt I own (and that's saying a lot...)
It was a cold and rainy day in dc, which suddenly switched over to respectably warm and sunny around 6:0 0. My wardrobe remains the same: Jeans, maroon shoes, short sleeved "Green Festival" tee with long sleeved tan tee underneath.
Article of the day.
Too good to not post.
keep blogging. we're still here. it's freezing in Pennsyltucky. black jeans, black long-sleeved Dali shirt, raincoat, blue scarf, black and white striped fuzzy socks. no surprise there!
Got a little worried a support beam had come down on ya. Glad to hear you're OK.
I'm in a pair of tan, too-large cargo pants, a black tee, sneaker and my brand-new cheap watch. Wahoo!
Don't worry so much about the subject. It's your writing that makes the blog. Honest.
I'm wearing corduroys. Spring is grey and cool here.
black cropped pants, black cardigan, black ballet flats, black and white striped t-shirt. Much too casual for the office today, and not quite warm enough because it is breezy and about to rain, but oh well. :)
Glad you're back. It doesn't have to be that frequent, you know.
Hey, you're back! In celebration I will leave my first comment ever! Blue skirt, long-sleeve brown t-shirt (with a v neck) & a cardigan sweater with various shades of gray. Do you know who I am? Maybe this will help...glasses with some black on them. Have you figured it out yet? If not, two more words for you: Paya & Tupe.
Alright, so it's three days late ... a few days ago I was wearing solid bobos, torn jeans, and a long-sleeve synthetic tee beneath a fly-fisherman's hat. Today I wore the same jeans under rain pants, the same stinky-ass t-shirt under a rain shell, and long underwear until the entire ensemble. Rocks ain't so fun in the snow, but at least they taste the same.
Oh, I look good. pajama pants from 2002, blue tank, orange hoodie. I'm stylin'. It's 78 and sunny, pretty perfect and I'm too tired to enjoy. Tomorrow, the garden, tonight the couch. So glad you are back, and I'm really happy we caught up. Although, I missed the new old boyfriend thing...
So, Jenn, you've got your loyal audience back...now what?
White linen pants, navy polo. Aerin was in pajamas all day because she has a cold.
one thing at a time, matt - one thing at a time! more to follow soon. thanks everyone!
